Green Home provides comprehensive home health and energy audits for homeowners and businesses in North & South Carolina.

Testimonials

"Green Home was prompt, personable, and professional. They spent several hours gathering information from me, from the blower door test and the thermal imaging camera. I received an 8 pg report with photos of problem areas, suggestions for savings, estimated cost and return on investment (in terms of time and cost). I was also provided a unit to test for indoor air quality and, after 4 days of testing, given a detailed report about VOCs, carbon dioxide and particulates in my home along with remedies. Knowing that the employees are HERS raters and BPI certified was reassuring especially since Green Home's price was the lowest of the three quotes given."

Do words matter? A thought for the 4th

By Jack McKinley

With the Fourth of July soon upon us, I have been reflecting on the whether “words matter.” Over the past year and a half many sources have posited that then Senator Obama followed by President-elect Obama and now President Obama gave “…..good speeches but lacked substance.” Well this got me to thinking about history, writing, speeches, context, etc., all of wh… Continue

Did Bad Energy Policy Cause the Economic Crisis? (VIDEO)

by Blaise Zerega

Here's the thing about the current economic crisis and global warming. For the past decade, there were lots of smart people warning about the housing boom and about climate change, yet they were largely ignored.

We're now being forced to address both these matters -- at last. But rather than embrace each of them one at a time, this country and others have the opportunity to create a virtuous circle betw… Continue

8 Innovative Green Buildings

By Meghan Ahearn Posted June 12, 2009 from WomansDay.com

It’s true that structures that incorporate “green” design elements are inherently inventive, since they often utilize state-of-the-art technologies in order to have minimum impact on the environment. However, there are some buildings that go above and beyond even green conventions in order to meet Gold- or even Platinum-le… Continue

Habitat for Humanity: Mud Volleyball Tournament

I always look forward to Sundays. It seems to be the one respite in the week that I can call my own, but when asked to provide recycling for the Habitat for Humanity 3rd Annual Mud Volleyball Tournament this past Sunday...Green Home jumped at the chance.

We arrived in the "mean green saving machine" (aka our blank white van) and had it loaded with Green Home recycling receptacles.

Homeless in America - 6-11-09

It was a decidedly chance encounter. I was trying to decide between two fast food joints – Chick-fil-A or Wendy’s. It was then that I noticed the couple standing on the side of the road, waiting to cross the heavily trafficked four lanes just off the interstate, intent of Wendy’s. I did a U-turn just as they crossed the road and pulled into the rear of Wendy’s.

By the time I got in line they were in front of me. I watched them order, using some sort of plastic card. When the cashier handed the… Continue
